About Romtronic

Source ↗

Romtronic makes custom cables and wire harnesses in Chang'an, the electronics-heavy town on Dongguan's border with Shenzhen. It's been at it since 1997, and today runs a 10,000 m² plant with around 350 production workers on ten lines. What sets it apart is the mix: it'll take a 10-piece order and turn samples in 5–15 days, but it also holds the paperwork bigger customers ask for, including IATF 16949 (the automotive quality standard) and ISO 13485 (the medical-device one), both current to 2028.

The product range covers most of what goes inside a piece of electronics: USB4 and DisplayPort cables, LVDS and eDP display links, M8/M12 circular connectors for sensors and automation, OBD diagnostic leads, ribbon cables, and full harnesses for robots, drones, medical devices, trailers and appliances. Signal cables are a strength. It's listed with USB-IF for USB4, and it runs its own lab with TDR analyzers (they check a cable's impedance along its length), salt-spray, bend-cycle and pull-force testers.

Romtronic names Siemens, Bosch, TE, Amphenol, Mettler Toledo, Samsung, RAFI and UGREEN as major customers, and says it has customized more than 34,000 cables. Most of its output goes abroad, mainly to North America, Europe, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, and it lists a European office in Nürtingen, Germany, plus a German joint-venture partner, HEC Electronic. You'll often find the team at electronica in Munich and Shanghai, the Hong Kong electronics fairs and NEPCON Tokyo.

Working with them is straightforward. Upload a drawing, BOM or even just a photo, and engineers send DFM feedback within 12 hours. No drawing? Send a sample and they'll quote from that. Most samples are free (you pay shipping), production usually runs three to four weeks, and the website has a set of handy calculators for wire gauge, voltage drop and bend radius if you're still designing.

Romtronic suits hardware teams that need a harness or signal cable built to their own spec, from a small pilot run up to steady production, especially in medical, industrial and automotive work where certificates matter.
