Centre Testing International, better known as CTI or 华测检测, is the heavyweight among Shenzhen's homegrown test labs. The group is headquartered in Bao'an and runs more than 160 laboratories in over 90 cities with about 14,000 staff. It tests everything from gadgets in EMC chambers to food, medicines, textiles and soil. For a hardware team it's a Chinese one-stop alternative to the big multinational inspection houses, at similar scale.
Wan Feng and six fellow testing professionals founded it in Shenzhen in December 2003. A research institute followed in 2007, and on 30 October 2009 CTI listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange's brand-new ChiNext board (code 300012), the first Chinese testing and certification firm to go public. It took the Centre Testing International Group name in 2015 and has grown abroad by buying labs such as Singapore's Maritec. Revenue in 2025 was about 6.6 billion yuan.
For electronics makers, the Shenzhen electrical lab is the part that matters. It has four anechoic chambers, including a 10-metre chamber and 3-metre semi- and fully-anechoic rooms, plus eight shielded rooms for immunity tests like ESD and surge. CTI prepares reports for FCC, CE, CCC and other approvals and is an FCC-listed test firm. It tests around 400,000 samples a year for nearly 90,000 customers, close to 100 of them in the Fortune Global 500.
It also does inspection, certification, calibration, audits and training. So a brand can use the same group for product inspections, social-compliance and factory audits, supplier quality work and advice on getting into the China market. There are offices in the US, UK, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan.
CTI fits companies that want a big, stock-listed lab with a long list of accreditations, especially when a product needs several kinds of testing (electrical, chemical, materials) or when you'd like audits and inspections handled by the same provider. A small team that just needs one FCC report with lots of hand-holding may find a smaller Shenzhen lab quicker to deal with.
