LKK Design (洛可可) is one of China's biggest industrial design firms. It's a Beijing-headquartered group with more than 1,000 designers, engineers and strategists and offices in ten cities, including a Shenzhen studio in Futian. Big brands hire it to invent a whole product category, not just style a housing, and it now sells exactly that as "category innovation".
Jia Wei started LKK in 2004 from a single desk. Chinese design-industry profiles describe him as the only Chinese designer with golds at five major design awards (Red Dot, iF, IDEA, G-Mark and China's Red Star). Early on, LKK became a global design partner to Nokia in 2006 and worked with Samsung on Beijing Olympic metro gates. The Shenzhen company opened in 2010 to serve the southern manufacturing belt. In 2014 LKK launched its 55° cooling cup, a hit consumer product. In 2016 it started LKKER (洛客), a crowd-design platform that connects freelance designers with companies. In 2021 it was named a national-level industrial design centre.
The work spans smart AIoT devices, 3C electronics, home appliances, medical equipment, energy storage and EV charging, industrial machines, special equipment and food and drink packaging. Recent projects include CT scanners, a breast-cancer screening system, Baidu smart speakers, Estun industrial robots, high-speed-rail components and an AI charging robot. There are also charging stations for Volkswagen's CAMS and for Geely. LKK has collected more than 600 design awards and has worked for 200+ Fortune Global 500 companies and 300+ of China's top 500.
Services start with product strategy and user research. Then come industrial design, structural engineering with DFM/DFA (design for manufacturing and assembly) support, UI and digital experience, and brand and packaging. An R&D and supply-chain team helps carry designs into production. Projects usually start with the online "diagnosis" form or the 400 hotline, and the work is mainly in Chinese.
LKK suits established Chinese and international companies with real budgets that want a large multidisciplinary team to define and design a new product line, especially in medical, energy and smart devices. Small foreign startups that want English-first project management on a single product will probably be happier with a boutique Shenzhen studio.
