About Sofeast
Source ↗Sofeast is what happens when a quality inspector keeps getting asked to fix the problems he finds. Founded in 2006 and based in Sai Kung, Hong Kong, it started as a quality-assurance specialist. Today it's a group that designs products, finds and manages suppliers, tests prototypes in its own reliability lab in Dongguan and, through its subsidiary Agilian Technology, makes them too. There are more than 200 staff across China, India and Southeast Asia.
Founder and CEO Renaud Anjoran is a Frenchman who has worked in Chinese manufacturing since 2005. He's an ISO 9001 and 14001 lead auditor and an ASQ-certified quality and reliability engineer, and he's unusually open about the craft. His blog, QualityInspection.org, has been running since 2009 and gets 50,000+ readers a month, and Sofeast's podcast China Manufacturing Decoded walks importers through everything from DFM to tooling disputes. The tally so far: 30,000+ on-site audits and inspections, 22,000+ orders handled and 100+ engineering design projects.
Their projects show the range. On the engineering side there's an electric skateboard taken through DFM (design for manufacturing), supplier qualification, prototyping, compliance testing and ramp-up; an IoT fitness band where they did the development, prototyping and firmware; and a sleep-aid device where they audited the existing factory, fixed quality problems, cut costs and redesigned the product. On the supply-chain side, they rescued a crowdfunded electronics project from mold problems and got every backer batch out the door, and they caught a glassware supplier that planned to quietly subcontract the job. For a US bag importer they wrote the QC procedures and trained 23 inspectors.
Agilian, in South China, gives the group its own factory floor: injection-mold tooling, CNC machining, plastic and silicone molding, PCB assembly and even sewing. So products that mix electronics, plastics and textiles can be built in one place. Sofeast puts a lot of weight on transparency, protecting your IP and not locking you in. They also do co-packing and fulfilment.
Sofeast fits importers, Amazon brands and hardware startups, often Western and English-speaking, who want one team for engineering, supplier management, testing and production follow-up instead of juggling separate agents, inspectors and factories. If you're very price-driven and only need a single inspection, a pure inspection platform will be simpler.
