Rongyi Technology (荣熠科技) is a mold maker and injection molder in Chang'an, the Dongguan town that likes to call itself the world capital of mold making, just across the river from Shenzhen's Shajing. In a 3,131 m² plant they design products and molds, cut the tools, shoot parts on 31 presses from 30 to 1,500 tonnes, then paint, print, plate and assemble them.

There's no published founding year, but the founder has close to 20 years in plastic molds and the business has 19 years of mold experience. The 91-person technical and production team averages 13 years in the trade. The presses come from Nissei, Sumitomo, Haitian and Lanson. The toolroom has CNC, EDM and wire-cut machines, and QC has microscopes, gear testers and a salt-spray chamber.

The unusual bit is how they find customers. Their motto is to "let the internet empower physical manufacturing", and 91% of their clients come in online. That helps explain why they're happy with small, fast jobs: molds in about seven days and short molded runs in one to two weeks. The client list isn't small, though. They claim work for more than 13 Fortune 500 companies and name Sony, Microsoft, Samsung, Alibaba, JD.com, Lenovo and Babyliss.

Their projects show the fiddly work they take on. One is a farm-inspection robot for JD.com's agricultural technology arm, an IoT device packed with sensors. Another is a machine part that needed painting, silk-screen printing and a lot of embedded metal inserts after molding. A third is a brush that combined plastic, silicone and metal parts. The wider range covers medical devices, smart-home gear, Bluetooth earphones, beauty tools, educational robots and baby products.

Rongyi suits hardware startups and product companies that want one Dongguan partner for tooling, molding, cosmetic finishing and assembly of plastic housings, especially with overmolded, two-shot or insert-molded parts. Their site and contacts are Chinese-first, so overseas buyers may want a Chinese-speaking colleague or agent for detailed engineering talks.
